Which Trampoline Fits Your Cork Garden? — Size Guide by Area
The right size is decided by your garden first and your children second. Measure the space, then pick the biggest trampoline that fits it comfortably.
Prices and details checked October 2026.
The Rule: 2 Metres Clear on Every Side
Allow 2 metres of clear space on every side of the trampoline, free of walls, fences, trees, sheds and washing lines. In practice that means the trampoline's diameter plus 4 metres in each direction.
Space Needed for Each Size
| Trampoline | Clear space needed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 6.5ft (200cm) | 6m × 6m | For compact gardens and younger children; 50kg limit |
| 9ft (270cm) | 7m × 7m | Suits two young children |
| 11ft (330cm) | 7.5m × 7.5m | The most popular size in Ireland |
| 12.5ft (380cm) | 8m × 8m | For larger gardens and older children |
| 14ft (430cm) | 8.5m × 8.5m | For teenagers |
| 17 × 11ft oval (520cm) | 9.2m × 7.5m | For long gardens |
Measure the clear area of lawn, not the whole garden: a patio, shed or tree takes space out of the total.
Small City Gardens
In a compact city garden, such as those in Turner's Cross, Blackrock or Ballinlough, look at the two smallest round sizes. The 6.5ft and 9ft come in the Favorit range, at €449 and €539 with a safety net.
If there is no room for a trampoline at all, the PlayBase Wall climbing frame fixes to a wall and needs 4m × 3m in front of it.
Suburban Gardens
A typical suburban garden in Douglas, Bishopstown, Ballincollig or Carrigaline often has room for an 11ft or 12.5ft, which need 7.5m × 7.5m and 8m × 8m. If the garden is long and narrow, an oval Grand trampoline gives a similar jumping area in less width.
Large and Rural Gardens
With more space, in Midleton, Mallow or rural Cork, a 14ft round, the 520cm oval or a rectangular Ultim all become options. In an exposed garden, anchor an above-ground trampoline or consider an InGround model, which sits low and is far less exposed to wind.
If the Garden Is Tight
An InGround trampoline does not need less space, but it sits lower and looks smaller in the garden, with the mat 10 to 20cm above the lawn and no ladder. A FlatGround trampoline sits completely flush. Both need digging, and FlatGround needs a level, well-drained site.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much space does a trampoline need?
The trampoline plus 2 metres of clear space on every side. An 11ft needs 7.5m × 7.5m; a 14ft needs 8.5m × 8.5m.
What is the smallest BERG trampoline?
The smallest full-size model is the 6.5ft (200cm) Favorit, which needs 6m × 6m of clear space and has a 50kg limit. It is €449 with a safety net.
What shape suits a narrow garden?
An oval (Grand) trampoline gives a similar jumping area to a round one in less width. The 520cm oval needs 9.2m × 7.5m.
Does an InGround trampoline need less space?
No. It needs the same 2 metres of clear space on every side; it sits lower and looks smaller in the garden.
